Recently, the Halo Wars Achievements list has been released and is on Red vs. Blue right now. Any Halo 3 fan and anyone who has a Xbox 360 should definitely take a look at this. I like the names of the achievements, heh. They seem pretty imaginative. The “Ready For Sequel” and “OMG BFF FTW” achievements particularly catch my eye. So all of you gamers looking for a true Halo 4 sequel rejoice!
Rock Band 2 has finally been released on the Nintendo Wii, but the 30 downloadable songs promised by Harmonix is no where in sight. Good news is, their official forums say:
“Harmonix is working fast as possible to deliver the 20 free bonus songs for Rock Band 2, plus an additional 30 sonds from Rock Band DLC Catalog to fans as early in 2009 as possible.”
Rock Band 2 players will be able to buy and download the whole back catalog of Rock Band DLC, which is somewhere over 100 songs. No pricing has been announced yet. Good news for you Wii fans rocking out on Rock Band 2. I still don’t have a Wii…. I’ve been looking around for one and the only ones I find on Amazon are for $300+.
The Olympic Swimming Gold Medallist, Michael Phelps, is getting his own game. This game will be made by 505 Games (Yeah, I never heard of them either) and they plan for it to be the next Tiger Woods game. Swimming back and forth, how exciting, right? No. But they plan for it to be pure action.
505 Games doesn’t plan on confining the swimming just to a swimming pool. We all know that swimming back and forth in a pool is fun, to swimmers, but to the wide stream audience, we need action!
“Swimming will be a part of it, but it won’t be set in an Olympic pool going back and forth,” said the president of 505 games, Adam Kline “This is a pure action game”
A pure action game with Michael Phelps as the main character…. a swimmer. How the heck can someone make up a story with Michael Phelps being the main character and the game being “Pure Action”. I smell a failure coming. Excuse my lack of faith in this company, but they aren’t widely known. If anything, I’ll say this game will be a visually pleasing failure, you heard it here first.
“We will spend a very pretty penny in marketing this project because it’s important to us,” Kline said. “We believe it’s the next Tiger Woods project. … It could be here for the next 10 years.”
Man, what a way to cashout on a popular figure.
Guild Wars is my current mmorpg suggestion for now. Well, Guild Wars is my current costly mmorpg suggestion. I have been playing it for a while now, and I think that game is amazing. There is an expansion pack out, Guild Wars Eye of The North. Also, there are three other parts, Guild Wars Factions, Guild Wars Prophecies, and Guild Wars Night Fall. Also, Guild Wars 2 is on it’s way some time in 2009 I think.
When I first got it, I was hooked. First off, if you don’t know, this game is a one time fee. You just pay for the game, then you get to play it as much as you want. It’s a different type of mmorpg. It’s massively multiplayer, yeah, but if you leave town, you have the whole map to yourself (unless you’re in a party). This prevents any ks’ing and looting. This is pretty much the only mmorpg that I’ve ever played that actually has a story. The story is why I like this game so much. The dual class system doesn’t hurt either. The pvp is also fun, especially a guild war.
The missions are extremely fun and indepth, and dungeon crawling is pretty enjoyable. I remember one mission where a army of monsters are chasing you and you are literally on the run to a city for safety. My friend, who was a Level 20 (max level) Warrior/Monk. That guy is basically a juggernaut. He went in and tanked all the monsters, it was epic.
All in all, Guild Wars is an amazing game. It has story, engaging pvp, missions, and more. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get into the mmorpg world.
We all know how much of a slow start the Playstation 3 had. It is a good system, over all, but it had a low amount of good games. A lot of people only got it to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet. But it seems as if the Playstation 3 is starting to pick up in games. The Xbox 360 has been going strong, with it’s mass amount of hit games and exclusives. But the Playstation 3 is coming out guns blazing, with God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 announced. Those are two obvious GoTy contenders.
Sure, the Xbox 360 is coming out with some good titles too… I think. But from the release list I’ve seen, there’s nothing exciting. They have Final Fantasy 13, yeah, but that’s a multiplat. Most of the games to come for the Xbox 360 is multiplatform. But Playstation 3, on the other hand, is getting Final Fantasy 13 Versus (Another Game of The Year Contender), The Agency (An mmorpg), Killzone 2 (Yet ANOTHER GoTY Contender) and more. The graphics alone on most of those games blow most of the games the Xbox 360 has to offer out of the water.
The hype for God of War 3 is also outstanding. There was an interview with someone, recently, who had a chance to play God of War 3. It was comparable to a movie experience, according to him. The Graphics were amazing, the attention to detail, the animation, the gameplay. Hint at multiplayer. That game will be nothing short of amazing.
I think the Playstation 3 is guarenteed to have the upcoming years owned. The Xbox 360 has it’s work cut out for it. What do you think? Do you think the Playstation 3 will also own the next couple of years? Also, try not to have any bias towards a system, heh. I have an Xbox 360 myself and I am loving it.
