BioWare implimented an Advanced Class sytem within Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in order to shake thing sup. There are only four classes for each of the two factions, so this Advanced Class sytem is necessary in order to improve variety.

The Advance Class system is available for use after character has grown considerably in power. When you are a high enough level, you will be able to select between two advanced classes, offering you a fair amount of skills after your choice. This is similar to the system found in World of Warcraft. When you reach a high enough level, you are able to use this system in order to be able to acquire distinct skills.

An example is of the Sith Warrior Advanced Class. These options give you the option to focus on being a tank, or in simpler terms, give you defensive options or give you the option to become stronger and deal heavy damage. For those of you who are familiar with the MMO scene, this is known as DPS, or damage per second.

After choosing one Advanced Class, the other class that you did not choose will have its skills locked away. There will be a shared skill set available, which features skills from both of the advanced roles, but the more powerful and devastating skills are not up for grabs.

This system is very impressive. This may possibly make Star Wars: The Old Republic one of the major MMO’s to have when it comes out. Possibly a competitor to World of Warcraft. Be sure to check out the official website for further information on the Advance Class system found in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
