Kojima’s next game?

PSW Magazine

There has been a lot of talk lately on the next game that Kojima is working on, and many speculations are out. Some say it’s a completely new franchise, some still think that it’s going to be a Metal Gear Solid to be released on the Xbox 360. But this image recently released, to the left, supposedly shows a silhouette of the main character, which is changing minds.

PSW write’s that Kojima has been hinting towards the new game he’s working on, and they know what it is. They, of course, want you to purchase the magazine in order to find out. It will be revealed in the next issue.

ComputerandVideoGames speculates that this character is the silhouette of the main character from the Lords of Shadow title that Konami announced last year. We won’t know, however, until this issue comes out I guess, so all we can do is wait. But an interesting year of gaming seems to await us, heh.

Killzone 2 Flash and Thunder Map Pack

Killzone 2’s second group of Downloadable Map Packs is coming out next month, titled as the “Flash and Thunder” Map Pack. In which two of the maps are making a return from the dead, as revamped maps from the original Killzone.

The Killzone 2 Flash and Thunder Map Pack includes two maps from the first Killzone, completely remade to be played on the Playstation 3. The two maps are titled the Beach Head map and the Southern Hills map. Beach Head is a more closed quarters match while Southern Hills is more open ended.

The Killzone 2 map packs are pretty…. small I think. For a map pack that I’m used to getting, that is. But just two maps for one map pack, seems a bit lack luster.

No Plans For English Final Fantasy XIII Demo

Final Fantasy XIII Demo
Final Fantasy XIII Demo

For those of you wishing for an English release of the Final Fantasy XIII demo, don’t expect it. While the Blu-ray demo was released over in Japan, along with the Final Fantasy VIII movie  and was a hit, it seems unlikely for that demo to come over to the West.

In a recent interview, Yoshinori Kitase, the Final Fantasy XIII producer, was asked if there will be a Blu-Ray Final Fantasy XIII Demo. He answered that the type of demo released over there will not be released broadly. For the fact that this game is multiplatform and they don’t want to ignore the Xbox 360, and keep the demo on the Playstation 3.

When asked if there would be any demo at all, he answered that he heard that a demo means something that can be downloaded, over here in the West. So they’re going to look into that. I’m pretty sure demo’s are something you can download in Japan too, so I don’t even know why he bothered saying that. But it’s good news, regardless, to know that the Final Fantasy 13 demo may be coming over to the west. It would probably be a pay to download type of thing, over Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

New Gears of War 2 Content to come

Gears 2 Dark Fronts
Gears 2 Dark Fronts

Coming in July, Epic Games will be releasing their Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection for retail, giving insight on the talked about “Dark Corners” DLC.

Not to long ago, there were rumors about a collection of downloadable content called “Dark Corners”. However, this is not wrong, Dark Corners is DLC, yeah, but it is the map pack that is being sold along with the Gears 2: All Fronts Collection. This map pack holds seven new multiplayer titles, and will go for 1600 Microsoft Points.

This isn’t all the Gears of War: All Fronts Collection holds. It also comes with all of the Gears 2 DLC released to date, a Collectible poster, a strategy guide, a custom Xbox Live theme and a Single Player Chapter called “Road To Ruin”.  The seven maps are titled Allfathers Garden, Memorial, Sanctuary, War Machine, Highway, Way Station and Nowhere. This collection may run for up to $40 altogether. This is good for those who still haven’t hopped onto the Gears of War 2 bandwagon and haven’t purchased the map packs yet.

Free Radical achieving their dreams with Crytek

TimeSplitters 4
TimeSplitters 4

Free Radical was in trouble of shutting down apparently, and needed to be purchased by another company. Crytek, the creators of the Far Cry and Crysis series, ended up purchasing Free Radical.

Crytek purchased Free Radical back in February, and later layed off over 140 employees whom were labeled as “redundant”. CEO, Cevat Yerli, says that Crytek was chosen to purchase Free Radical, over the other choices, because Crytek gave them the opportunity to create the games they’ve always wanted to create. They are given the chance to “grow”.

Whether Timesplitters 4 is included in one of the games they’ve always wanted to create, no one knows. But we can hope, seeing the concept art that was released for Timesplitters 4 and Starwars Battlefront III.  Crysis is a big company, being the makers of Crysis, I have hope that they can really improve and help the Free Radical team to make big games and projects to come. Free Radical should be happy that they’re paired with Crytek now.
