Coming in July, Epic Games will be releasing their Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection for retail, giving insight on the talked about “Dark Corners” DLC.
Not to long ago, there were rumors about a collection of downloadable content called “Dark Corners”. However, this is not wrong, Dark Corners is DLC, yeah, but it is the map pack that is being sold along with the Gears 2: All Fronts Collection. This map pack holds seven new multiplayer titles, and will go for 1600 Microsoft Points.
This isn’t all the Gears of War: All Fronts Collection holds. It also comes with all of the Gears 2 DLC released to date, a Collectible poster, a strategy guide, a custom Xbox Live theme and a Single Player Chapter called “Road To Ruin”. The seven maps are titled Allfathers Garden, Memorial, Sanctuary, War Machine, Highway, Way Station and Nowhere. This collection may run for up to $40 altogether. This is good for those who still haven’t hopped onto the Gears of War 2 bandwagon and haven’t purchased the map packs yet.
As you know, Gears of War 2 has sort of a ranking system. Where the more you play, you rise through the ranks. This is the “True Skill” thing, that many gamers complained about, since it’s so complex. A lot of people still don’t know how it fully works, so they don’t rise through the ranks. They’re looking to change that.
On the official Epic forums, Rod Fergusson wrote “What if, instead of skill rank, we instead showed your experience level.”. So now, instead of basing your progression on team effort, they are focusing soley on the player themself. The leveling system is now more like an RPG, where you have a certain amount of experience required for every level to progress, and the amount increases each time. There would be 99 levels.
“Generally speaking your level will always go up since you’re always acquiring more score, hence experience, with each completed match.” He said. The only exception to that would be people quitting. Players that quit would gain an experience penalty that could cause them to be demoted. At the end of every match you will be able to see how much experience you’ve gained and how much further you have to go till the next level.
The next DLC, update, for Gears 2 should have this revamp with it. So we should have something to look forward to!
We all know how much of a slow start the Playstation 3 had. It is a good system, over all, but it had a low amount of good games. A lot of people only got it to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet. But it seems as if the Playstation 3 is starting to pick up in games. The Xbox 360 has been going strong, with it’s mass amount of hit games and exclusives. But the Playstation 3 is coming out guns blazing, with God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 announced. Those are two obvious GoTy contenders.
Sure, the Xbox 360 is coming out with some good titles too… I think. But from the release list I’ve seen, there’s nothing exciting. They have Final Fantasy 13, yeah, but that’s a multiplat. Most of the games to come for the Xbox 360 is multiplatform. But Playstation 3, on the other hand, is getting Final Fantasy 13 Versus (Another Game of The Year Contender), The Agency (An mmorpg), Killzone 2 (Yet ANOTHER GoTY Contender) and more. The graphics alone on most of those games blow most of the games the Xbox 360 has to offer out of the water.
The hype for God of War 3 is also outstanding. There was an interview with someone, recently, who had a chance to play God of War 3. It was comparable to a movie experience, according to him. The Graphics were amazing, the attention to detail, the animation, the gameplay. Hint at multiplayer. That game will be nothing short of amazing.
I think the Playstation 3 is guarenteed to have the upcoming years owned. The Xbox 360 has it’s work cut out for it. What do you think? Do you think the Playstation 3 will also own the next couple of years? Also, try not to have any bias towards a system, heh. I have an Xbox 360 myself and I am loving it.
Meh, there are some people who are disappointed with the Game of The Year of 2008. I think the Goty 2008 pick was well deserved. Grand Theft Auto 4 has to be my favorite game of 2008 hands down. It has the most replayability that I’ve seen so far, lol. Gears of War 2 was fun, yeah, but the mindless chainsaw fests and camping can get boring after a while. Reeking havoc in the city, in GTA 4, pretty much does not get tiring at all.
What do you think? A lot of people I know have been praising “Little Big Planet” a lot, because it’s a new “refreshing” type of platformer. Honestly, I can’t get into that game. So far, the game I play the most is Grand Theft Auto 4. I’ve been able to hop in, and play offline as long as I feel. I play Gears 2 online, and I end up getting annoyed, heh. People running through my Shotgun shots as if it was nothing, with their revved up chainsaw “going Rambo”. Coupled with the fact that the Matchmaking sucked and took ages during the first week or so of the games release.
All in all, I think Grand Theft Auto 4 was well deserved, like I said. What do you think?
