For those of you fearing an Uncharted 2 Install, don’t worry, it’s been confirmed that there won’t be an install required. Contrary to the idea that Uncharted 2 would require players to install a 1.7 GB file, you don’t actually.
The Naughty Dog co-president announced it on his twitter that Uncharted 2 will not require an install.
Now you can immediately hop into your gaming session when you get your Uncharted 2, so enjoy it well!
It’s been a rather slow week in terms of video game announcements. But here’s some quick information on the thoughts of the Burnout Dev’s, concerning their thoughts on one maxing out a console with a game. The technical director for Burnout Paradise says that such a claim is proof that you’re not the best.
Richard Parr thinks that those who are pushing the limits of game developments are constantly finding new and innovative things to do, not finding their options increasingly limited. So those who claim to have “maxed” a console with their game or project is just declaring themselves out of ideas.
The Criterion (Burnout Paradise) senior engineer, Alex Fry, says that you’ll always find new things to do. This applies to every game you make, not just every console that is released. The constraints originally in place will be lifted as you figure out new things. He thinks that there isn’t a point in saying that you’ve maxed something out. But what about games like God of War 2, God of War 3, and Uncharted 2? I’m sure those games are pushing it as far as possible, in terms of game development. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to declare that those games are “maxing” the console. The Uncharted 2 dev team actually says that they’re using 100% of the console, which is maxing it out. Many people have mixed responses to this, but with the reasoning that the Criterion team is using, they seem to be right.
Two Uncharted 2:Among Thieves videos have been released recently. One showing off the co-op/multiplayer capabilities and the other was a 5 minute video of Uncharted 2 single player gameplay. Let me just say that this game is nothing short of amazing. The graphics are the best I’ve seen on a console yet they weren’t playing around when they said that they’re using 100% of the Playstation 3. This game looks visibly better then anything else I’ve seen on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 yet, though may some beg to differ.
The cover system looks great and the stealth mechanics also look well made. I like the fact that you’re able to cimb up terrain and buildings, that adds a whole new sense of gameplay to the mix. Especially in Single Player, as you saw the guy hanging on a sign shooting and using it for cover, on the side of a building. Not only does that add fun, but it adds a sense of mystery as to where to find your enemy. You need to watch literally every spot in sight, because you never know where they may be.
The enemies look quite smart, that’s a great thing. Smart A.I makes the game’s single player great, not even to mention it’s multiplayer. The way you can incorporate stealth to take out your enemies is a simple yet fun mechanic that they put in. I hear the enemies detection system is realistic, making it great for you to great for you to get away from your enemies when you’re trying to hide. The cinematic sequences, such as the part where he was running away from the truck, looks amazing. The graphics were top notch. The little animation touches are admirable too, such as when a bullet whizzes close by him, he cringes a little or flinches. Little touches like that makes the game that much more entertaining and interactive.
Now, not only is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves probably gonna be a Single Player Game of The Year contender, but now it’ll definitely be competing for the Multiplayer Game of The Year award. This game is really something that all gamers need to play. I’m most definitely going to be getting a Playstation 3 sometime soon, and I will own that game once it comes out or once I get my Ps3.
Yes, by the sounds of it, this game is going to be nothing short of a graphical powerhouse. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was an amazing game on it’s own, it had good graphics for the time. That game only used 30% of the Playstation 3’s power, yes, less then half. Even so, that game had great textures, animations and the graphics were pretty stunning. Even Killzone 2, praised for it’s graphics, is only using 60% of the Playstation 3’s power. Just barely over half of it’s power. Killzone 2, is with out a doubt, going to be one of the best looking Playstation 3 games there is.
Naughty Dog has said it is going to be using 100% of the Playstation 3’s power, all it has to offer. The first Uncharted was pretty good, but they are apparently trying to raise the bar and go over and above that game. “Uncharted used 30 per cent of the PS3’s SPUs, and this time we’re maxing it out” Balestra said. When this game comes out, we’ll finally see what the PS3 has to offer in terms of graphics. Maybe ending this graphics argument between the Xbox 360 and Ps3 once and for all. Uncharted 2 will be released later this year.
We all know how much of a slow start the Playstation 3 had. It is a good system, over all, but it had a low amount of good games. A lot of people only got it to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet. But it seems as if the Playstation 3 is starting to pick up in games. The Xbox 360 has been going strong, with it’s mass amount of hit games and exclusives. But the Playstation 3 is coming out guns blazing, with God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 announced. Those are two obvious GoTy contenders.
Sure, the Xbox 360 is coming out with some good titles too… I think. But from the release list I’ve seen, there’s nothing exciting. They have Final Fantasy 13, yeah, but that’s a multiplat. Most of the games to come for the Xbox 360 is multiplatform. But Playstation 3, on the other hand, is getting Final Fantasy 13 Versus (Another Game of The Year Contender), The Agency (An mmorpg), Killzone 2 (Yet ANOTHER GoTY Contender) and more. The graphics alone on most of those games blow most of the games the Xbox 360 has to offer out of the water.
The hype for God of War 3 is also outstanding. There was an interview with someone, recently, who had a chance to play God of War 3. It was comparable to a movie experience, according to him. The Graphics were amazing, the attention to detail, the animation, the gameplay. Hint at multiplayer. That game will be nothing short of amazing.
I think the Playstation 3 is guarenteed to have the upcoming years owned. The Xbox 360 has it’s work cut out for it. What do you think? Do you think the Playstation 3 will also own the next couple of years? Also, try not to have any bias towards a system, heh. I have an Xbox 360 myself and I am loving it.
